Story Time…

Before I became a freelance content writer back in 2020, I was studying computer science.

I completed my computer science bachelor’s degree in October 2019 – just 2 to 3 months before the COVID-19 Pandemic began.

It was a difficult time for me… I had just graduated and was looking for a job as a mobile app developer.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, I really don’t know…), I couldn’t get a job because they wanted experience – and for me… I needed a job to get experience.

You know this hustle…

You need experience to get a job… and you need a job to get experience. This cycle never ends.

Right?

Luckily, one day I got a call from a company, and they invited me for an interview. The company was in another city – around 300–400 kilometers away from my hometown.

Regrettably, 2 days before my interview, the government imposed a countrywide lockdown due to the rising number of COVID cases… and I missed my interview – the only opportunity I had until then.

After a few days, I was exploring different freelancing platforms… and learning more about freelancing.

TBH, I didn’t know anything about freelancing then. So, it was quite a new experience for me.

One day, one of my university friends called me and asked if I could write an article for his client’s website.

I was shocked at first and replied, “How could I? I don’t know anything about it. What’s SEO? What’s an article?”

But, since he’s one of my best friends, he knew how to convince me. And he did that…

Long story short, I started researching how to write an article and what SEO is. I learned how to incorporate SEO into content writing and all that stuff.

Then, I wrote my first article and sent it to my friend. Luckily, he approved.

And that’s how my journey as a freelance content writer started.

After that, I started exploring different freelancing platforms again and found Upwork in August-September 2020. I created my profile there and started submitting proposals.

Unfortunately, for the first three months, I didn’t get a single reply. I was broke, had no money in my bank account… and didn’t know what to do.

But I didn’t stop sending proposals…

Then one day (December 22, 2020, to be precise), I got a reply from a client and landed my first project on Upwork. The very next day, I got another reply and another project. Wohoo!

And since that day, I’ve never stopped. I’ve faced many ups and downs during my journey (and still do sometimes), but I never gave up.

I always try my best to learn from my mistakes, improve my writing and communication skills, and enhance my performance.

I am fortunate to get copywriting coaching and training from Alex Cattoni, an acclaimed digital marketer of 2022, and the Copy Posse Coaches.

Now, the best part… after getting 2 projects in 2 days, I got a few more projects over some months… and then after 8 months, I earned my Top-Rated badge on Upwork in 2021 and my Top-Rated Plus badge in 2022.

And then something big happened…

On November 30, 2023 (my birthday), I got a gift from Upwork.

I was invited for an interview for the Expert-Vetted Badge, which represents the top 1% of talent on Upwork. I passed the interview and got the badge.

Today, I’m a Top-Rated and Expert-Vetted freelance writer on Upwork with a 100% Job Success Score (JSS). Yaaaayyyyy!

To date, I have written over 650 content pieces as a content writer and ghostwriter (which means I don’t own rights) and have worked with companies like Kyligence, Ocoya, and GetCPRDone.

But, I’m not stopping here… The journey has just started – and as I said earlier, my mission is to help as many entrepreneurs (at least 100) as possible to grow their businesses online, connect with their audience, nurture them, and turn them into their paying customers.
